I have three dogs, and one of them is an American pit bull terrier. The other two are a Maltese/shih tsu cross, and a kelpie.

I also have a five year old grandson, and my pit bull is the only one of my dogs that I let him play with. Pit bulls make perfect family dogs. I am getting old now, and a dog like a border collie would be too much work for me. But a pit bull, they are easy to get along with….

As for pit bulls and dog fighting, I just remember this quote from an old time dog man:

“These dogs weren’t bred to fight; all dogs fight. These dogs were bred to win.”

Yes, these dogs were bred to win.

American Pit Bull Terriers are the best dogs for whatever their owners want. If that is dog fighting, that is sad, but if you want the best search and rescue dog, if you want the best therapy dog, if you want the best agility dog, if you want the dog with the best temperament, if you just want the best dog ever, get a pit bull.

Any other breed is just a dog.

I love my pitbulls and would never want to see any harm come to them. I do understand that many decades ago it was considered a sport, but times have changed. Although media and close minded people continue to see the pitbull as a killer I strongly disagree. Although it is common for pitbulls not to get along with other animals(which can be fixed by proper training). Pitbulls are not known to attack humans just because. It is the reckless owners that train their dogs like that, that give the breed a bad name. My children love our dogs and they love them. That is how it should be.

I think people that fight pit bulls are discusting ignorance. People like realty why would someone do a hurtful thing like that looking at these pictures makes me want to cry pitbull are loialty to human I have to of them and I love them with all my Hart people say pitbulls are so bad well this is why ignorance people put a bad name on pits, one of my pits is a year old andmy 10 month old son plays and pulls her ears and she gives him kisses! Its not the “pitbull” breed that is the worst any dog can be mean its just the way they are trained!

I agree with Hikaru I also have a bull terrier and he is very loving. Of course, people get scared on the street when they see me with him but he is harmless (of course, to a point). Dog fights are basically the level our society has reached regarding “intellectual” activities…

I own an english bull terrior, and he loves me and my mum to bits. I also own 18 cats and he acts like their father, mind you their all over him giving him kisses and snuggling him all the time. the only reason most dogs, NOT JUST PITBULLS get aggressive is if you beat them and hurt them, which you should never.
Dog fighting is stupid and should not happen, pit bulls are amazing dogs and the only reason they have been put in a negative light is because of all the dog fighting and attacks that have been made on humans.
the only reason they do this is because they have been hurt or you’ve just pissed them off.
Don’t just say that pit bulls should die, or they shouldnt be around people, because its bullshit.
If you beleive dog fighting is right you deserve to be bitten by one.

I am from the uk and would like people to realise what a pitbull is!!! There are 3 breeds that come under the pit bull type and they are the american pit bull terrier, american staffordshire bull terrier and the staffordshire bull terrier! People need to do their research before blabbing about things they know nothing about. I own four dogs, a staffordshire bull cross rottweiler, Bullmastiff, Labrador and jack russell. All live happily together but i am not naive!!! I research and have researched dogs for over 10 years and have a hell of a lot of experience. Certain breeds were bred for certain things and so have a natural, genetic pre disposition toward certain behaviours – FACT! Pitbulls(staffs) are prone to dog NOT HUMAN aggression unless it is corrected from an early age. Surprisingly this is because they were bred for bull baiting and DOGFIGHTING! I always see people out with their Rotties and staffs with the beginning signs of dominance which will lead to aggression and yet they do NOTHING to CORRECT it! Only certain people should be allowed to own certain breeds namely the ones that were bred to do damage and are capable of easily killing an adult human! My dogs are all very similar in nature now they are adults but as puppies i saw the blatant traits that go with each breed, the jack russell wanted to eat my rabbit but with the right corrections ( as well as a lot of exercise and mental stimulation) he has grown up to be fine around the rabbit and other small animals. I wish people would use common sense! There would not be different breeds if they were not born with certain traits – otherwise we would breed small, medium and large dogs and train them to do what we wanted! I do not dislike any breed but know for a fact that the bigger powerful guarding and fighting breeds are more likely and capable of doing serious damage if not given the correct upbringing and by that i do not mean just a loving home. I mean a knowledgeable, loving and firm handed home!
